"Giving Back, Changing Lives"
ABOUT THE BAMALEE FOUNDATION

VISION
Together, we are dedicated to building a vibrant community where every child is empowered with the opportunity to succeed, and every neighbor plays a role in lifting one another up. We believe in the power of collective effort—where support, kindness, and collaboration flourish to create lasting change. Our vision is one where children are given the tools they need to achieve their dreams, and where the spirit of generosity extends beyond individual efforts to inspire a culture of unity. Through shared purpose and mutual encouragement, we can cultivate an environment where every person, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a brighter, more compassionate future.
MISSION
The BamaLee Foundation is committed to uplifting our local community by uniting donations and addressing the unique needs of those we serve. Our goal is to create a lasting positive impact that spreads joy and inspires a culture of giving. The foundation’s mission centers on empowering youth by providing essential resources that promote academic success, encourage sports participation, and support families in need. Through scholarships, the BamaLee Foundation enables today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders to chase their dreams, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to thrive both personally and academically. By meeting immediate community needs and investing in the future, we foster a supportive environment where every individual is encouraged to grow and succeed.

HISTORY
In 2023, Summer Sutherlin organized a toy drive as her senior project to honor the memories of Bama and Lee. Every year during Christmas, Summer’s family adopts one or two children to provide gifts, a tradition started by Rance Sutherlin’s late mother, Clara Sutherlin—known as Bama to friends and family. Unfortunately, Summer never had the chance to meet Bama, as she passed away from cancer when Rance was in the eighth grade. In addition to honoring Bama, Summer also paid tribute to her Uncle Lee through this service project. Edward “Lee” Martin Jr., the brother of Summer’s mother, Kendria Sutherlin, was tragically killed at the age of 14 by someone he believed to be a friend. Despite never having met him, Summer grew up hearing about her Uncle Lee, who was known for his big heart and being deeply loved by everyone.
In honor of these two remarkable individuals, Summer’s parents established the BamaLee Foundation on October 22, 2024. The foundation will not only continue the annual BamaLee Toy Drive but also offer academic scholarships to support future generations.
